Medieval Nubia

A central resource for the developing field of Old Nubian studies, administered by Giovanni Ruffini of Fairfield University.  A highlight of the site is the series of important overview articles by William Adams, who has over forty years of experience as an excavator of medieval Nubian sites.  There is also a significant amount of fundamental scholarly data available here, including the “Corrections and Additions to Gerald M. Browne’s Old Nubian Dictionary;” an extensive, growing bibliography on both documentary and literary texts from Nubia (with standard abbreviations provided for volumes of the former); a Berichtigungsliste (suggested corrections to published documents) for Old Nubian texts; and the late Gerald M. Browne’s list of Old Nubian literature, many with links to re-editions by Browne himself, in his hand-written notebook, which Ruffini has digitized.  Finally, there are collections of personal and place names, as well as office titles.
